Seathwaite - Gillercomb - Base Brown - Green Gable - North Traverse - Kirk Fell - North Traverse - Green Gable - Gillercomb - Seathwaite.
8 miles, 3600 feet of ascent
As I parked the car at Seathwaite the prospects for a clear day didn't look particularly promising.
After a long cold spell Sour Milk Gill was well and truly frozen.
By the time I came back down BASE BROWN the cloud had really started to drop.
I then climbed over Green Gable (which today was anything other than green).....
and bypassed the summit of Great Gable by using the North Traverse, I reached Beck Head, also well frozen.
I was really grateful for the fence posts which helped me to the top of KIRK FELL.
At last the wall shelter to prove I can read a map and use a compass.
Time to head back the way I came via the North Traverse.
Gable Crag is up there somewhere!!
Really disappointed that the cloud which wasn't forecast to arrive until much later in the day came early with the result that I lost out on some great views. Oh well only 26 Wainwrights to go in 7 walks.
