Tilly and Dusty (pedigree names 'Wardette Tilly Tantrum' and 'Rossavon Angel Dust on Ingledene' respectively) are my two Rough Collies who have accompanied me on many of my wanderings in the Lake District and elsewhere.
Tilly was born on 12 February 1997 and is much more lady-like than Dusty who was born on 15 July 1998.
Even though Tilly is the elder she is more nimble than Dusty who is perhaps (like her owner) a little too fond of her food.
Typical of their breed, they are placid, have an excellent temperament and don't particularly like water.I never have any worries that they will decide to go for a swim in a tarn, unlike some breeds. They would much rather walk round a puddle than go through it!
As you can see from their photographs, they have luxurious coats and need a lot of grooming, especially after they have been for a walk with me! I cannot take any credit here, Anne is responsible for them looking in such good condition.
I love my dogs dearly, they are great companions when walking; they always go wherever I ask without complaining and they don't spoil the silence with inane chatter. (AW would have loved them!)
This photograph was taken on the ridge leading to the sumit of Fleetwith Pike when I completed my circuit of climbing all 214 Wainwrights. Tilly and Dusty have both climbed ninety nine Wainwrights; long may they continue as my walking buddies!
