High Street, The Knott, Rampsgill Head, Kidsty Pike and High Raise
Hello, my name is Malcolm. Thanks for taking the time to visit my web-site. This site has been designed to show the routes I used in completing my first circuit of the 214 fells listed in Alfred Wainwright's Pictorial Guides and the ongoing process of completing my second circuit.
This website was created in October 2007, but all of my walks in the Lake District since February 2006 are now listed on the Left Hand Side of the page.
There are quite a number of the fells I visited before 'going digital' that are not yet on the site and it is my aim to give these priority so that before too long all 214 will be represented.
Whilst collecting the 214 Wainwrights I have also covered over 300 Birketts and these will continue to be recorded on an as and when basis on my 'Walking Diary' page. As there are 541 Birketts (including Pillar Rock) this may take some time!
There is also a page dedicated to my very occasional walks on Wainwright's 'Outlying Fells'. More of these will be undertaken in the future.
The photographs on my site are purely a record of my walks and are taken with either a Nikon Coolpix 4200 or a Nikon D40X. I do not claim to be a world-class photographer!
I live in Horwich with Anne, who has completed twenty seven Wainwrights and my two Rough Collies, Tilly and Dusty who have climbed ninety nine. They have their own page on this website.
The Lake District is a wonderful corner of England and I have spent many happy days there, but remember that in common with most mountainous areas the weather can be very changeable. May I suggest therefore that before setting out on any walk the weather forecast is checked. Better to be safe than sorry!
The Lake District has the finest Mountain Rescue Teams in the world. Let's hope none of us ever need their services which they give voluntarily and free of charge.
